Fate of The Empress Guide: Totem - Toys for your Pets

To be easy to understand, just imagine Totem is like Treasures/Toys for your Pets. For now the only places to get totems are through Desert Tales Clan Shop and if you get extremely lucky in Lantana Seeds in planting.

I. Types of Totem and Seals

Ok let's get to know the number and type first.

  • There are 3 types of Totem: Gilded, Frosty and Temptation with different skills.

  • There are 4 Totem Qualities: Rare, Elite, Epic, and Fabled.

  • There are 3 Levels to the Totem’s Power:

    • 1st Level: After the totem skill has been unlocked using seals at Upgrade +0,

    • 2nd Level: Activated at Upgrade +10,

    • 3rd Level (max): Activated at Upgrade +15.

After that, to active Totem Power, each Totem needs to be improved by 3 Seals.

  • There are 7 types of Seals: Solemn (DEF), Lumina (Support), Hefty (ATK), Gloss (Control), Dazzle (Balanced), Radiance (Balanced), and Luster (Balanced). Each Seal slot will be marked with a letter, and you will need to equip the correct seal that matches the slot. For example, if the slot says "S", it means you need to equip a Solemn seal into there.

  • There are 4 types of Totem slots: Solemn, Lumina, Hefty, and Gloss. It means they will never ask you to equip Dazzle, Radiance, and Luster. Then what are they used for?

  • Dazzle, Radiance, and Luster are 3 universal seals. It means they can be equipped on any slots to activate.

  • There are 4 Seal Qualities: Niello, Rose Gold, Jadeite, and Garnet, corresponds with Blue, Purple, Orange, and Red.

II. How to Equip Totem

Totem will be unlocked when Pet reaches Advance +5.

Pets -> + (then pick the totem you want)

Click on Improve to Enhance, Upgrade, Awaken, Polish, add Seals to your Totem. You cannot equip totems on pets that are not deployed in your team.


To switch out totems click on the Totem again, Click either Remove or Replace. Remove doesn’t delete your totems, it just goes back to your inventory.


You can also preview totems by clicking on their symbol when you’re choosing your totem.

III. How to Activate Totem Power

Without the correct seals, the totem power is locked. However you do get some attributes from equipping the totem.

You have to place seals that match the letters on the top left corner of each seal placement to unlock the totem skill. For example, this totem wants Hefty, Lumina, and a Gloss seal (H, L, G). When you click on the Seal placement choose the seal that matches the seal that you want.


Again, there are 7 types of Seals: Solemn (DEF), Lumina (Support), Hefty (ATK), Gloss (Control), Dazzle (Balanced), Radiance (Balanced), and Luster (Balanced). However, there are only 4 types of Totem slots: Solemn, Lumina, Hefty, and Gloss. It means they will never ask you to equip Dazzle, Radiance, and Luster. Then what are they used for? Dazzle, Radiance, and Luster are 3 universal seals. It means they can be equipped on any slots to activate.


All totem slots are generated randomly. For example, these 2 identical totems of Healing Effect Decrease III have the same quality of Jadeite but they both have different seal slots one has HHL and the other has LLS.

You can equip seals on totems regardless of rarity. (For example: On Fabled totems, you can use Niello seals if you really need to activate your totem’s power. You don’t need to match fabled seals on fabled totems.)

Then once you’re done it should look like this:

Activated Jadeite totem with Jadeite Seal, and 2 Niello Seals, proves that you can mix and match totem and seal rarities.

Once awakened, the totem’s skill icon shows up in your pet’s attributes page, however, it doesn’t show up when you look at another person’s team when you inspect other people’s pets nor when you show your Pet off in chat.

IV. Totem Upgrade, Enhance, Awake and Polish


IVa. Totem Upgrade


Uses Cassia Branches and Snow Petals, Totem Power is increased as well as basic attributes. This table is to be updated.

IVb. Totem Enhance


You would need other Totems to feed into the equipped totem that you want to enhance. It increases your equipped totem’s attributes.

IVc. Awaken Totem


Requires Ginseng Water and Totems of the same name and quality.


Totem Attributes will be increased by a percentage. Awakening starts after Upgrade +3 on totems. Using upgraded totems to awaken totems will give you back materials you used to upgrade and awaken for that upgraded totem.

IVd. Totem Polish


Only Epic totems and above can be polished.


Totems of the same quality regardless of type are required to polish. For example, Jadeite totems can be polished by Jadeite it doesn't matter the totem type like gilded, frosty or temptation. Fabled totems can only be polished by Fabled.


Polishing can change the attributes and the Totem’s Power. Totem attributes cannot be locked for a particular attribute. Totems that have been trained can't be used as polish.

You can change a Totem’s Power by polishing but can also change the Totem’s Attributes (Pic 1). An upgraded/awakened Totems’s attributes and Power can also be polished and changed (Pic 2).

  • Replace button: replaces the current (left side) totem’s attributes and power to the new ones (right side).

  • Auto select: automatically feeds epic totems in the cost so you can just keep polishing automatically till you run out of untrained totems.

V. Seal Polish and Level up


Va. Seal Polish


Only Fabled Seals and above can be polished.


Seals of the same quality regardless of type are required for polish. Seals that have been trained can’t be used as polish.


There are 4 Seal Qualities: Niello, Rose Gold, Jadeite, and Garnet.

Garnet: 2 - 4 attributes, Jadeite: 2-3 attributes, Rose Gold: 1- 2 attributes, Niello: 1.


One seal can have up to 3 identical basic attributes or 2 identical rare attributes.

Basic seal attributes: ATK, DEF, HP, CRIT, CRIT RES.

Rare seal attributes: ACC, EVA, DMG BUFF, DMG RES, AGI

Vb. Seal Level up


Individual attributes on the same Seal can be leveled up to 5 times max.


Seals can be leveled up by consuming other seals. To level up seals click on the Seal tab on the right then click on Level Up below the seal you want to increase its attribute(s).
