Fate of The Empress Guide: “Ocean Realm” EARLIEST GUIDE - Everything Everywhere All at Once

Hi guys, a very big update will come on 2023/11/28 in Fate of The Empress with a lot of new functions, gameplays, and events. This also becomes my 2nd longest guide, just after the Desert Tales.


So these are the things you need to know before reading:

  • This is a Pre-guide. It means it's written before the actual update happens so there will be some difference. I will update this guide again on 1st day when the update is on.

  • This is original, not a translation of any source. The information was picked up from several sources in Korean and Chinese versions to combine and write into one.

  • Some names of events, functions, and characters are translated from Korean and Chinese, so they can be different in the Global version. I'll highlight them and update it when it's released.

  • Even if it's written before the update happens, I can guarantee 85~90% accuracy of it.

  • If you have any question, please feel free to dm me or put them in our Discord.

I. How to enter Ocean Realm

From the official Fate of The Empress website:

"After the update, all servers in Cirrus Ⅰ, Cirrus Ⅱ, Cirrus Ⅲ will automatically get the access to Ocean Realm. Other servers can enter Ocean Realm when the division level achieves Cirrus.


Players need to promote to Office 7 and complete the pre-task before entering Ocean Realm."


So not every server will have access to it immediately after the update.

II. New Basic Setting of the game environment

There will be a lot of things about the basic setting of the game (Elites, Promotion Rank, Weather, Guild, etc. will be changed) so let's take a look at this "new Fate of The Empress" game. FOTE did make an announcement update on their own website but as always, their English is not written for humans to read so I will explain again below.

IIa. Character Status


When you are in Ocean Realm, you can attend events, fight with the NPC patrols, or battle with other players. There will be 2 new character status bars.

  • Health: The team's initial HP will be based on a percentage of the MC's HP. If your Health bar reaches 0, you will return to the spawn point and recover. You can use Life pills to restore.

  • Energy: Energy is required to collect and craft materials. If Energy reaches 0, you cannot continue. You can restore it by auto-refilling or using Energy pills (like how Exploring stamina works).

IIc. Fame


Remember when you 1st play Fate of The Empress and level up to unlock things one by one? There is a Fame system that you can collect Fame through events, fighting boss in Ocean Realm (Not by causing drama). The higher your Fame is, the more things you can unlock (Collection, Energy cap lift, Water ride, Guild Master, etc.)

IId. Promotion Rank


A new Promotion Rank system will be applied in Ocean Realm. There will be compensation rewards sent to players' mailbox the 1st time they enter Ocean Realm, based on the players' "Highest Ranking record" in the past. (I hope everyone got the Supreme rank once?)

IIe. Weather


New weather Stormy, Foggy and Blood Moon. Special weather is great for collecting materials just like how Pet baits work.


You can even catch Godly Pets in this new map with regular baits. Just right after we all burnt our Pet baits in the Dream garden. Well played FOTE, well played.

IIf. Attributes system


Remember how we have so much headache with all the ATK, DEF, AGI, ACC, EVA, etc. stats? FOTE brings to you a whole new attributes system called Yuanli System (Name can be different in Global version). Check "III. Yuanli System" section for details.

Our old "Extreme" graphics now will be set as "Common". You can go and try the new "Extreme", it's much more clear and smooth and gives a whole new experience.

IIi. Weekly reward


When you are in Ocean Realm, don't forget to click the map and find this Reward Emissary to claim the weekly VIP rewards and swipe right to claim all.

III. Function: Yuanli System

New Yuanli (Name can be different in Global version) system will be added to Ocean Realm. Yuan Power attributes include Zing, Vim, Hap, Ocean.


The Yuan Power system is similar to our usual combat system. The higher the attributes are, the more damage you can make.

  • Zing: Determine the Water damage of your skills

  • Vim: Reduce the Water damage you receive

  • Hap: The unit with the highest Hap attribute in the whole battle will increase the starting Rage value to 1% and release Rage at 1st round. The team with a higher total Hap attribute will receive the Heaven Fate effect. If there is one ally has higher Hap than the attacker, get EVA buff.

  • Ocean: The Ocean attributes in the Companion Spirit (See section "V. Companion Spirit") can convert normal Attack and Defense attributes into Zing and Vim in a certain ratio, the higher the Ocean attribute, the higher the conversion ratio. When your Ocean is higher than the attacker, get DMG RES Buff.

These 4 attributes can be increased using Companion Spirits (See section "IV. Companion Spirit") and Soul Artifacts (See section "V. Soul Artifacts").

IV. Function: Companion Spirit

I swear that I read FOTE's explanation about this 3 times and I was still lost. I don't know how you do but I will explain it again in my own words and most likely we will need a separated guide for this new function.



IVa. Unlock


Complete twin lands story quests to unlock side stories and then continue to complete the side quest to unlock Companion Spirit.



IVb. How to get Companion Spirit


There are 2 ways:

  • Turning our Spirits in old gameplay into Companion Spirits using Affix: Each hero can only deploy 1 Companion Spirit that obtained thru this way. Affix can be bought in shop or pack.

  • Obtaining thru Mold: Mold is a material to unlock "Spirit Egg", then cultivate it, aka upgrade, to Post Senerity phase and you can obtain a Companion Spirit thru Reify. If you are not satisfied with the Companion Spirit you receive, you can consume materials to reify again.

IVc. Deploy


Each hero can deploy 3 Companion Spirits. The 1st slot will be unlocked by default. The other 2 unlocked by money. Ok just kidding, unlocked by the Prospect level, which I will explain below.


Each slot you deploy the Companion Spirits will affect the attributes ratio that you bring into the battle. The Main slot will have the attribute effective 100%. The 2nd slot is 50%. And the 3rd slot is only 25%. Yes, you know what to do.

IVd. Cultivate, Prospect, Hydrophile


Ye I was totally lost at this part when FOTE explained it. Just take a look at the picture below first. First of all, you can see Companion Spirit gives a boost to the 4 attributes Zing, Vim, Hap, Ocean that I explained in section "III. Yuanli System".

  • Cultivate: Cultivate (Using that Elixer, or FOTE calls it "pills") will increase attributes of the Companion Spirits. Just imagine this is like when you feed your Spirits with all those dews for the upgrade. When you cultivate until full, you can upgrade to the next Prospect.

  • Prospect: Imagine this is like the Spirits' State. Yea those Solidation, Silking, Blossom, etc. Remember? Each upgrade to a new Prospect level will increase attributes and will lift the attribute increase cap too. There are 10 levels of Prospect level.

  • Hydrophile: Now each type of Companion Spirit will have a different level of Hydrophile. There are 3 levels of Hydrophile. A higher level of Hydrophile will allow you to upgrade the Prospect to the higher cap. To be specific, only Companion Spirit at Hydrophile level 3 will be able to upgrade Prospect to level 10 (The maximum).

IVe. Echo and Fortify skills


Echo Skills is Companion spirits' skills. It can improve the carriers' Active skills or Rage skills. You will need the corresponding required scrolls to unlock the skills or convert from the Universal scrolls.


There are skills that can apply to all heroes or to specific heroes. Unlock already then need more scrolls to upgrade.

Fortify Skills is, well, it's another skill. When you upgrade Prospect to some level, you can use Immortal Dust to upgrade this skill and increase attributes.

V. Function: Soul Artifacts

Will need separate guide for this.


Va. Craft and Equip


Designs and materials corresponding to the tier and the part are needed to craft Soul Artifacts.

There are Soul Artifacts for 5 parts. 1 Soul Artifact for each part can be equipped on each Hero. The higher tier of Soul Artifact, the better basic and additional attributes.


There are 6 tiers in total. Just imagine they are like the quality of the gears: blue, purple, epic, fabled, godly, galaxy, milky way, black hole, death tier.


Works the same as Heroes' gears.


You can go to the Guild Master of the guild to craft, which will be explained in "VIII. Guild Master" section.

Vb. Enhance and Refine


Enhance and Refine increase basic attributes of Soul Artifacts. The cap of Enhance and Refine level are decided by Soul Artifact Tier. And again, there are 6 tiers.

Vc. Soulite Inlay


Works same as Gears' gems inlay. The number of Soulites that can be inlaid on a Soul Artifact is decided by the quality of the artifact.



Vd. Additional Attribute


Additional attributes are obtained when the Soul Artifact is obtained. The values of additional attributes are decided by Soul Artifact Tier and quality. Additional attributes of other Soul Artifacts can be fused in Craft.

VI. Function: Craft

Collect materials in Ocean Realm and craft Pills in Life Skill-Craft.

There are some Fame level requirements to be able to collect some materials.

VII. Function: Wonderful Myriads

There are two types of Wonderful Myriads: Flora and Object. Both can be collected through collection and daily drops.


Collect a certain number of an item and it will be activated in Wonderful Myriads. Rewards can be obtained when certain progress of an activated item is achieved.

The flowers you can collect corresponding to Fame level:


Duality Island

  • Level 5~10 (Unsure): Flame Flower, Iris, Blue Butterfly, Scarlet Fantasy, Indigo Fantasy

  • Level 20: Yellow Cluster, Scarlet Lily (at [401,181], near elite Yi Niansan, very hard to see), Violet Pentagram, Indigo Pentagram

  • Level 30: Scented Petals, Purple Mushroom

  • Level 35: Thorny Rose, Indigo Lilies

Astrology Island

  • Level 45: Red Mushroom, Morning Glory

  • Level 50: Lily of The Valley, Barren Fruit

  • Level 60: Golden Fruit

  • Level 65: Purple Daylilies, Purple Fruit


VIII. Function: Guild Master

Ladies and gentlemen, there will be no more the Counselors' war. FOTE honorly brings to youuuuuu: The Guild Masterrrrrr Warrrrrr.

VIIIa. What is Guild Master


Before I start, let me put the answer from CS here. Guild Master is Division-based.

There are two kinds of Guild masters, Pharmacists (Craft pills, elixers, potions) and Armorers (Craft Soul artifacts, see section "V. Soul Artifacts"). Guild masters with different attributes and temperaments will have different capacity caps and skill tendencies in crafting.


When the leader enters Bonanza Attic for the 1st time, you can only invite "Earth" level Guild Master


After inviting, the Guild can train owned Guild Masters, including Appeal level-up and perceiving skills, which can greatly improve their crafting capability. (If they are Master, why do they need to be trained?)


Guild Masters can be discorded by other guilds (I think it works like Lobby), if masters are not protected well, they will enter Bonanza Attic room and wait there for auction.


If the Guild ignores the Guild Master for so long, the Loyalty will also decrease. When the first loyalty reaches the danger value (i.e. 1000), the Guild Master will be protected for 24 hours, and when the protection period is over, if the loyalty reaches the danger value again, the Guild Master will enter Bonanza Attic room to wait for auction or leave on his own.

VIIIb. Bonanza Attic and how to invite the Guild Master


Every three days, a group of new masters will come to Bonanza Attic for skill exchanges. Pick the one you want and set target on them to be your Guild Master. If they are not invited by any Guild after staying for 3 days, they will leave automatically.

Guild Masters have different talents, and their qualities are divided into three categories: Zeneith, Heaven, and Earth. Among them, Zeneith Masters are extremely rare and have the most strength. Again, the 1st time the Guild leader comes in, they can only invite Earth Master.


After the leader decides the master, they can call on the guild members of the guild to pay honor to the master, and the guild with the highest honor will win the master before the countdown ends.


Four Guild Masters stay in each room and the guild leader can only set the target to pay honor on 1 master. If the target is changed halfway, the honor that your guild paid to the previous Master won't be carried but reset to 0. Please note.

Each Guild Master refresh is settled 5 minutes before the settlement, and the Guild Master with the highest Honor Value will go directly to the Guild after the settlement is completed.



VIIIc. Bonanza Attic Auction


The top 3 guilds in Guild Master Discord ranking (Yes, now they have a ranking for who lobbies the most), together with the original guild that owes the Guild master, 4 guilds will bid for the guild master.


The guild whose Discord Points register 70% or more of the total number can have the final competition with the original guild of the Guild Master. The other 2 guilds will be eliminated.


Auction starts in Bonanza Attic at 19:00 daily, lasting for 1 hour each time. After placing the initial bid, each guild can make one additional bid, with the amounts kept secret from one another. The guild that has invested the highest amount wins. (I think this part is quite interesting and can be very strategic. If the leader does it right, you can invite the Guild Master with the low bid).


If the Guild fails in the auction, the invested funds will be returned fully.


IX. Function: How to unlock Hope Bridge (Tbc)

Condition: When you reach Fame Level 21 and do the main story, the Hope Bridge quests will be unlocked.

The Hope Bridge Quests will have 3 phases, which I will update the other 2 later phases after.


IXa. Contraption Phase


It will be a ton of loop quests that will be refreshed daily. This is a Server Progress, so if you don't have many people in your server, it will take forever to complete. (I'm the 1st one in my server did it and I contributed 1% to the progress. Please do your math. Seriously let's complain to CS tgt. Our servers are dead. It will take forever)

IXb. Route Phase


After completing the the 1st phase, you will start the next phase and have to defeat some NPC. There are 5 levels of difficulty. The higher level, the more progress points you will gain and the faster you complete.

IXc. Battle Phase


Defeat the final boss to finally unlock Beauty Island.

One thing is that the main quest will also get stuck until you complete Hope Bridge quests.

X. Function: Water Ride

Water Ride unlocks after entering Ocean Realm. Water Rides with Water superscripts allow you to ride on waters. Owning a Water Ride will allow you to attend "Dinghai Movement" (Name can be different in Global version) event. See "XIV. Dinghai Movement" section for details. However, the event won't be available in this time update yet.


There are two types of Water Rides: Native Water Rides and Evolved Water Rides. The Native Water Rides can be obtained in events. The Evolved Water Rides need to be evolved with Evolve Cards first.


Unlock and complete Wonderful Myriads. At the 1st chest, you will get an evolve card for free. then you can evolve Brown horse, or koi, etc. to water ride. So everyone can get at least 1 water ride.

XI. Event: Weekly Boss Defeat

There will be 3 islands and 3 bosses, Zhou Liyang, Lan Yingqing, and Liu Dongyang and every week, they will take their gangs to different islands in the Ocean Realm (Depending on the division and Islands unlocking process of the server). Each island will open quests corresponding to the boss that comes to the island.


You can switch the island from the Event Book menu.

From 00:00 Monday to 19:00 Sunday every week, you will be able to do several tasks in Ocean Realm and increase the Morale Points bar. The Quests are as simple as ranked quests.


When Morale Points reach 100%, boss will appear on 19:00 Sunday in 30 mins for everyone to hit.


Every participant will get the prize for hitting the boss and more bonus rewards for the Last Strike. Pretty much a wondrous on Sunday evening.


You can click on Map -> World and swim to the islands by yourself too. Water Ride required.

XII. Gameplay: Twin Temple

You can team up to participate in the Twin Temple, complete tasks, and challenge elite bosses to get rich rewards including Soul Artifact Design, Soul Artifact Craft Material, and Ocean Coin (See section "V. Soul Artifacts" for details).

There are 3 dungeons.


XIIa. Land of Calamity After teaming up to go to the dungeon, you need to drive a small wooden boat. When you are in, the one who choose Steer will have to control the boat, the other 2 teammates just need to choose Embark to sit on.


Click the left and right arrow buttons in the lower left to avoid vortex (Make you slow down) and water bubbles (Make you slow down and deduct health), and keep the HP not 0 and reach the opposite shore within limited time.

Then after that you have to go thru 3 boss fights in a row. Note that HP WILL NOT BE RESTORED after each fight. So when you get to the 3rd fight, your HP may be very low already. Before the 3rd fight, you can play a short mini game to decrease the might of the boss, try to break the pink connection to decrease 5% might. Blue connection will increase 10% of boss might, dont touch it.

XIIb. Star Dome


After teaming up to go to the dungeon, you need to avoid patrols (They will start battles) and tornadoes (deduct health) and collect starlight fragments to hand in.

XIII. Gameplay: Ocean Elites

New World Elites in Ocean Realm urghhhh. Have you seen the 238 mils elite yet?

You will need the water ride to access the map. But well, the Ocean Elite is DIVISION-based. Good luck finding someone 238 mils might in your division.

XVI. Other Optimizations

From FOTE official website:


(1) Pet catching: all kinds of pets can be caught by Pet Bait (Include fabled spirit pets and godly spirit pets). It has a higher possibility to catch Spirit Pets by using new item Advanced Pet Bait.


(2) Less experience is required for each level above Lv.80. And the unlock level of some functions has been adjusted. After this update, most players will have different levels of improvement, the level ceiling of 220 will remain unchanged, and the overloaded experience will be stored to the experience pool.


(3) Gameplay:

  • Wondrous Talents: After entering Ocean Realm, Dusk·Wondrous will be removed.

  • Loop Quest: After entering Ocean Realm, Loop Quest will be removed.

  • Silk Road: The unlock level of Silk Road has been adjusted to 85. Memento Design will be removed from rewards. Advanced Pet Bait and Fabled Pet Shard will be added to rewards.

(4) New World Elites Meng Jiusi and Shen Yuanzhi will be available after update.


(5) Quick Improve and Quick Complete will be available for Ride Root, Palace Roam and Illusory Towers.


(6) Pet Breed Partner: You can filter pet kind and pet gift in Find Partner.

XVII. Gameplay: Starry Domain

Sometimes when you pick flowers or do the weekly boss quests, you will trigger this Starry Domain, like dh. It can be a boss fight or just a minigame/lottery like this. But it will give some good stuff. Remember to clear it in time. It only silently pops up on the quest menu on the left, not a huge and annoying announcement like Dragon Heritage so it's easily forgotten.


This Starry Domain will give you the scrolls to upgrade the Echo skills of Companion Spirits. (See section "IV. Companion Spirits").


Guild Event: Dinghai Movement (It won't be in this update)

Note that I didn't see the announcement about this so there's a chance this won't be available in this time update for us.


Too long; didn't read: Dinghai Movement (Name can be different in Global version) is Guild Coliseum but in the ocean.


They said that if you have a Water Ride, you can attend this event. But it's unsure if having a Water Ride is a compulsory requirement to be able to attend.


From Monday to Friday, Guild leader can register. Event will start at 20:00 to 20:20 on Saturday night. There will be 2 camps (Instead of 3 like Coliseum). When the event ends, the two camps will be ranked according to the Music note points and Heroic points (Name can be different in Global version), and there are Guild rewards and Personal rewards.

  • Music Note Points: Same as Coliseum Tokens, collect them, kill mermaids to get, snatch from other players (Blood Bathhh), hit Dinghai Beast. Bring the Music Notes to the safe area and submit them to your camp's Instrument, you will get Music Note Points and Personal Heroic Points.

  • Mermaid Goddess Statue (My translation tool said it's "Shark Goddess". Dead. Tho I'd prefer to have a Shark Goddess): Every time you submit 1,000 Music Notes to the Mermaid Goddess Statue, you can exchange for 1 statue blessing, and you can get Personal Heroic points, but you cannot get Music note points, and you cannot continue to submit Music note points during the cooldown period of the statue blessing. Work a bit similar to the shrine in Coliseum.

  • Islands: Same as the 3 strongholds, it will produce Music Note and you can defeat mermaids here for more notes.

  • Dinghai Beast: Same as Nian Beast. Defeat it for a huge amount of Music Notes. But when this Dinghai Beast appears, you cannot use the Statue for blessing.

  • Safe Zone: Same as Safe Zone in Colesium.

Gameplay: Hero Trial (It won't be in this update)

Note that I didn't see the announcement about this so there's a chance this won't be available in this time update for us.


It is opened when the Fame level reaches level 15.


After it is opened, you can go to challenge the beast. Each challenge lasts for 5 rounds. Each player will automatically take the highest damage of the week and enter the list. After the total damage caused in a single battle reaches the specified value, you can receive the milestone reward. Achievement rewards will NOT be reset every week.


The ranking is based on the highest single battle damage caused by players during the event, and ranking rewards will be issued based on the settlement at 23:00 on Sunday.


A buff will be triggered for players at 00:00 every Monday. The buff effect is not fixed. It can be different buffs, based on the Hero class, Pet type, Companion Spirit type, and Embattle type.
