The Doctor in Fate of The Empress is the tricksy control mage that wields a super stylish umbrella to throw nice, refreshing medicine at the enemy to mess with their senses. Think Jubilee but cooler. They tend to get overlooked because they aren’t really about doing tons of damage, but they’re one of the best choices for those on a budget.
So the first order of business is to go through some of the misconceptions perpetuated by the people who *make the game*. Without further ado, let’s start with what is correct, the skills.
I. Skills

Alpha Skill (Silver Light)
Grade: C-SSS
Level 1: 50% chance to dispel buffs on three targets, then deals 127% atk as dmg. Has a 28%*(1+ACC) chance to stun enemies. Chance is 10% higher on enemies with debuffs.
Level 4: Increased dmg +15%
Level 6: Dispel chance +50% (to 100%)
Level 8: Increased dmg +15% (to +30%)
Level 10: Increased dmg dealt to stunned targets by 30%
Alpha skills come from the Alpha Node of your constellation tree (Menu -> Constellation) and they’re really, really powerful skills to give your MC in almost all cases. Doctor, true to form, has one of the best alpha skills out of all four MC classes… If you invest enough into it.
It starts off as just a slightly upgraded version of the normal rage skill, which is already pretty strong in its own right. But once you manage to scrounge up a metric buttload of Star Crystals and get it to lvl 10 - it becomes extremely powerful. It will not only dispel buffs on target (something Mi Yue does that goes unnoticed a lot of the time) *and* increases damage done to stunned targets. She gets the Guiguzi special effect but since the MC stun lasts for an entire round it’s actually *better* than googoo’s stun. She becomes kind of a hybrid Mi Yue/Guiguzi at level 10 alpha.
II. Treasures
II.a Polish
POLISH FOR STATS! POLISH FOR STATS! ALWAYS POLISH FOR STATS!
Skills are awesome for Docs, but you need to polish for the best agi/acc/eva you can, and then care about treasure skills. I’ll show my Mi Yue’s treasure as an example. The skills aren’t fabled but I can’t polish out the stats unless i can roll fabled skills *and* similar stats:

*That’s 218 agi and 15.11% eva for anyone having a tough time reading to colorblindness
II.b Treasure Skills
Fresh Vigor: If you run at least one other doctor, this can give up to a 10% boost to acc at fabled tier (fabled treasure required, though). This is a big deal, especially to save those rare acc gems to put on said other doc.
Defensive Skills: Silent Calm/True Perseverance/Hidden Daggers/Bronze Wall: Keeping your doc alive is clutch. You want her to be able to stay alive and kicking to punish the enemy with debuffs and control skills.
Anticipated Vision: Agi is a premium stat that a lot of heroes need and MC doc is no exception. Getting that early boost to agi is a very powerful treasure effect. Goes from 20(rare) to 80 (fabled)
Ruinous Wrath: Rage generation is another very powerful effect, and this is the best, and only, skill for the job. More frequent stuns sounds like a great idea!
III. Gems

MC Doctors definitely prioritize ACC and AGI above all else. ATK/DMG+ gems are kind of not the best use of your offensive potential. Your doc needs to control your enemies with speed and accuracy. I thinks Meixin is full of crap and recommends instead EVA, RES, DMG RES gems to protect them from opponent’s control abilities and reduce crit chance against them, as well as damage the damage that does go through.
There is one real build for MC Doc and it goes like this: Dancing Doc: AGI, ACC, EVA, RES, DMG RES
Pros:
Great for f2p accounts because all the best docs are gated by being limited UR/GR.
Really good mixed kit.
Free unconditional 10% acc from passive.
Cons:
Needs premium gems in ACC and AGI
Not a big damage dealing clas
IV. Team Formation
The format of ‘2 scholars, 2 guards, and 1 Gourmet or Doctor’ is recommended.
=> This is WRONG. Wrong wrong wrong. Wrong on so many levels.
It has several problems:
Spreads damage potential way too thin: Having to spread your offensive resources across four different damage dealers is just going to just cause you to have five mediocre damage dealers. The only time this is even remotely possible to pull off is if you are one of the top world spenders and can afford to put tons of atk/crit/dmg+/agi gems and crystals on everyone. If you are a massive whale that can afford all that stuff then disregard and do whatever you want, lol.
Extremely Limited Utility: Scholars and Guards are real good damage dealers, and some of them can do ok as hybrids but you won’t get the support and control you need at higher levels of play.
You end up having useless heroes: When you have to spread your damage potential you’re going to see how ineffective it is the higher you get. So then you have to push those resources onto your best damage dealers, making the ones left not able to do much but stand there and eventually die.

(Actual real photo of your damage dealers)
So there are the recommended team formation for Doctor.
IV.a Doctor Who The Fk Do You Think You Are Coming At Me Bro Sit Down: 1 guard, 1 scholar, 2 gourmets, 1 doctor. *This is not a f2p friendly build*

Guard: I almost never recommend running more than one guard except for pretty specific conditions. Guards are the most expensive in terms of required investment and running two is extremely expensive. You want your guard to be slow and hard hitting. Prioritize your atk/crit/dmg+ gems on them and use res/eva for any extra slots.
Good Choices: Lyu Bu, Zhan Zhao, Sun Ce
Gourmet 1: You are absolutely going to need sustain (healing) if you’re running a slower scholar. Diaochan/Wang Zhaojun/Liu Shan/Zhuang Zhou are all really good choices for this spot. Mostly because they’re the only ones who actually heal.
Gourmet 2: You are going to need some support beyond just healing to keep your team protected while you wind up the big swings. Jia Baoyu/Ji Kang/Wu Zetian/Linglong are all great support options for your doc.
Doctor: Run another doc for control redundancy. You can run one of those supportish docs like Ying Zheng but control redundancy is going to be the biggest bang for your buck here. Stunning with your mc doc and confusing with, say, a Daji, combined with a hydra and a reindeer gives you around ten control opportunities. Sure some of the stuff with overlap but that’s ok - especially if you’re against a high-evasion team. The reason this build is not f2p-friendly is because your mc doc and your other doc has to be fast, and agi/acc gems are premium.
Scholar Scholar is going to be your heavy aoe damage. The scholar build is pretty open, they can be fast or slow, just make sure they hit hard.
IV.b Fast Slow Doc: 1 guard, 1 scholar, 1 gourmet, 2 doctors

Same as above: This build runs exactly the same as the above build with one difference: the second doctor runs slow.
Doctor: This doc runs slow you don’t need to double up on high end agility gems on two heroes. Princess Taiping, Mi Yue w/ Peacock or Penguin, Daji w/ Peacock or Penguin, Linglong (treated like a doc) w/ Penguin all work well for your slow doc. Taiping is the most accessible because she’s built to not be fast.
IV.c One Doc Fast Lead Build: 1 guard, 2 scholars, 2 gourmets

It drops a second doc for another scholar for hybrid/more damage potential. You need a good amount of offensive gems/crystals to run this.
Guard: Same as usual, you want your single target nuke to be heavily invested in with ATK,DMG+,CRIT gems and crystals. You want your single target nuke to be slower so they can clean up after a double scholar onslaught. Prince Gao, Lyu Bu, Zhan Zhao, Sun Ce, Zhou Yun are all good choices. Generally just run whichever one you can make the strongest.
Scholar 1/2: Your scholars are both going to be trying to hit hard and hopefully at least one can hit decently fast. You have a pretty strict budget here with offensive materials so using scholars who appreciate different stat priorities.
ATK-specific scholars: Li Bai and Mozi are both great heroes to emphasize atk on. Mozi has bombs that scale off of atk and Li Bai can do extra damage with his rage skill. This means you can afford to give crit and dmg+ to other heroes, if you really have to.
CRIT-specific scholars: Li Bai and Li Qinhzhao are both great for focusing crit. Li Qingzhao has a stacking atk buff as a passive that allows her to run lower atk and Li Bai can be run with emphasis on crit to hit those big rage skill crits.
DMG-specific scholars: Any scholar can be dmg specific. Li Qingzhao is a really nice option, specifically, because she has the scaling atk passive.
IV.d Supreme Cheapskate Doc Build (f2p): 1 guard, 1 scholar, 3 gourmets

Guard: literally just the same as above. Zhou Yun, Sun Ce, Lyu Bu are the easiest guards to use here (that don’t suck).
Scholar: your aoe damage dealer. You want to split your offensive gems and crystals between the scholar and the guard. Li Qingzhao, Song Yu, Li Bai are your best options here.
Gourmet (heals): Run a healer like Diaochan, Liu Shan, or Wang Zhanjun to keep our bulky team topped off.
Gourmet (tank/support):You want to run a tanky or support gourmet like Jia Baoyu, Princess Linglong
Gourmet (heals/support/throwaway): Run either a second healer for redundancy, another support for more..support, or run a throwaway Ji Kang at +12 with a Vixen or Cunning Bunny or Timid Chinchilla. That way he gives you your rage momentum then has some value even after he dies.
V. Pets

Reindeer. Run Reindeer. This pet is built for high accuracy heroes. Your doc is no exception. One caveat is that the doctor passive does not extend to your pet, so you can’t count that extra acc towards the freeze. If you can’t run reindeer, then take a look at the following options:

Tough/Cautious/Timid Raccoon. All three pets are great for doc. Your doc wants to be tough. Raccoons are great. Not much to say about it other than they all give eva, which is important for any hero to have. Note that the best gender for Timid is a female MC - because the hardest hitting heroes in the game are all male.

Cautious Piggy. This lil guy will punish attackers trying to take your doc out by having some of it also hit a random enemy, making your mc less desirable to attack.

Charming/Modest Bunny. These two natures actually have two different reasons for using:
Charming: much like the piggy above, this nature dissuades enemies from attacking because they can gain an atk debuff in return for being attacked.
Modest: You really don’t want your doc getting controlled, because then they can’t control enemies.

Naughty Hydra. Gives a baby version of freeze. Excellent more free option, depending on how easy this thing is to get.

Panda. One of the very few times I will recommend this guy, this is a perfect use for him. You want your doc to be as fast as possible. The added bonus here is it steals the agi, so opposing fast docs lose their agility.

Peacock. I’m going to recommend this pet to almost everyone. You pop back up and can stun your enemies. It’s a great pet.

Vixen. Vixen is a great shield for the first several turns, giving your doc more of a chance to launch control skills.
VI. Kids
This section will be short and I will probably add on to it in the future. But this is what I recommend for all Scholar builds:

For PVP you see a ton of shields. These can be obnoxious to murderous. I almost always run at least one piercing shield if I’m going to be facing other players.

Arrow Blow hit’s so much harder the higher your MC’s attack *and* the higher the enemy's HP. This is incredibly powerful when taking on higher level NPCs, like Cascade Manor and Elites.
Note: If your kid has high enough wits or has fabled Irresistible Charm, then poison will work well with your team. Suggest dmg down or agi down passives.
