When it comes to free UR Scholar in Fate of The Empress, the most common question that people will ask is "Should I use Li Qingzhao or Song Yu?". So I decided to put them together so you can easily compare.


Please just take this as a suggestion when choosing heroes for your team.

Song Yu

  • Quality: UR

  • Role: aoe/buff removal

  • Gem/Stat Priority: agi > atk/crit/dmg+ > eva > res/def/dmg res/hp

  • Pets: Naughty/Brave Ginger Cat, Cubby, Peacock, Penguin, Ferret, Panda, Tough Raccoon, Timid Piggy

(Jiodi) Song Yu is potentially going to be on your team for a very long time. Always use him unless you can replace him with a Li Bai or a Zhan Zhao. Not because of his damage or anything, but because in addition to his damage he can strip buffs from his passive effect. Make him fast and have him go first and you can rip off some obnoxious pre-round buffs that make it harder for your other damaging units to hit through.



Li Qingzhao

  • Class: Scholar

  • Quality: UR

  • Role: aoe

  • Gem/Stat Priority: dmg+/crit > atk > agi* > dmg res/hp/def > eva

    • Can be fast or slow, depending on preference. Either way, only use agi gems to tweak her speed to what you want. Clean up weakened enemies or weaken enemies for another damage-dealer to clean up.

  • Pets: Snowman, Ferret, Cubby, Naughty/Brave Ginger Cat, Phoenie, Tough/Timid/Cautious Piggy, Cautious/Tough Chinchilla, Panda, Vixen, Naughty/Brave/Grumpy Shiba Inu

(Jiodi) Unassuming beauty Li Qingzhao is a real firecracker under the hood. Oh that sounded wrong, didn’t it? Her passive increases her damage each turn, so even if she doesn’t have the highest ATK she will eventually start nuking hard. Her passive boosts her once per round every turn for all of the rounds. This means less investment and can hit harder and harder after a while.



Comparison

(Linkai) Ok so still the initial question, Li Qingzhao or Song Yu? As Jiodi already analyzed their strengths here, Song Yu has the advantage that his skills can strip buff, meanwhile, Li Qingzhao will increase her ATK every turn. While Song Yu can have more potential to play in your team, he needs a bit of investment here. You can exchange his skin in Skin shop. His "stripping buff" ability is good but you also need to stack AGI on him to be effective. And if you already have to invest and spend a bit, actually there will be better options than Song Yu. If you have to think of using anyone between these 2, it means you are a F2P player or you don't spend much but still want to have a decent damage dealer I assume, in this case, Li Qingzhao will be a better choice in my opinion. She can eventually have high damage as a Scholar without investing much in her, and you also can have her skin free from Biography.
